QUALLCOMM'S FIRST 5G MODEM
Qualcomm is a chip producing company known for its Snap dragon (Soc) chip, every ones favourite mobile phone chip. Since Qualcomm started producing snap dragon soc chips after it was announced in November 2006, they have gradually made their way to becoming one of the most used mobile phone chip, having MEDIATEK and INTEL as its great competitors. Amongst all their great inventions they recently announced their 5G modem. With this 5G modem Qualcomm will be leading the way for multi Giga-bit internet speed on mobile phones. 5G internet speed is still concerned a concept, but Qualcomm is trying their best to be the first to bring this internet speed into existence.
QUALCOMM'S CEO at a recent event announced that they would be launching the worlds first 5G modem which will be called the SNAPDRAGON x50 chip. This 5G modem is to download with an internet speed of 5gigabits per second. Qualcomm said it will start sending samples to customers in the second half of 2017 and phones with the modem inside will begin shipping in early 2018.Qualcomm’s 5G modem will be made with a millimeter wave spectrum having a 28Ghz Band. Something here to note is the fact that millimeter waves do not travel far. So we hope Qualcomm will work on that aspect in order for them to provide us with an excellent 5G modem chip.
